"To forget one's ancestors is to be a brook without a source, a tree without a root." Chinese Proverb

I never intended to be this person, hanging out in cemeteries and taking photographs of grave markers for people I have never met before. I started with the simple aim to photograph and document on Find A Grave a dozen family graves at Crown Hill Cemetery in Jefferson county, CO. On a whim, while photographing my grandparent's markers, I took photos of the nearby graves, then checked Find A Grave to see if they were already uploaded to the site. They were not. Since I had the photos and the time, I created memorials for those neighboring graves and have continued, row by row, to take more photos during every visit to the cemetery.

I do my best to accurately transcribe information from each photograph, but typos happen, and I appreciate all corrections. Thanks also to the members who submit additional information - the missing middle or maiden names, full dates and locations for birth or death, and links to parents and spouses.

Research is most useful when shared with others. You are welcome to use any photos I have posted on the site; however, I would appreciate proper credit through use of the standard Find A Grave citation or an abbreviated version such as "photo courtesy of Find a Grave contributor L Williams, #49175398" or similar. If any of the memorials I have added are members of your family, I am happy to transfer management of the memorial to you upon request.
