Bio

My name is George Atkins Brine. I was born March 6, 1945 in Richmond, VA, the son of Charles Frederick Moberly Brine and Mary Katherine Atkins and the grandson of John Norton Atkins and Katharine (Ada) Moran Atkins. I have one sister, born in 1948 in Morganton, Burke County, NC. I have been married to Dolores Annette Randolph for 47 years.
I was educated in NC public schools, at Christ School, Arden, NC (grades 7-12), The University of the South, Sewanee, TN (1967, BA, magna cum laude), and Duke University, Durham, NC (1974, PhD, chemistry). I worked 35 years at a contract research organization in the Research Triangle Park, NC. I am now retired.
My interest in genealogy goes back to my college years. My Uncle Bert (George Albert "Bert" Atkins) sometimes asked me to look up things for him, provided me with lots of data, and always encouraged me. Following his death, I appear to have inherited the role of family genealogist.
Over the years I have accumulated considerable information on relatives and ancestors which is not reflected in the Find-A-Grave database. As I have found the database helpful in my research, I hope to update (edit) those records for which I have more complete information, and to add new records where I have sufficient information to do so.
