I am the youngest great-granddaughter of the first Czech settlers in the Bold Springs area which is now called West, Texas in McLennan County, 76691. Vaclav and Rosalie Soukup Masek (later spelled Mashek) came to the USA in 1867 with their little girl Mary and Vaclav's brother Joseph Masek (later spelled Maschek). Vaclav & Rosalie's only surviving son Joseph Anton Mashek (1870-1945) was my grandfather & his wife Katherine Bednar Maskova, my grandmother although they passed before I was born. They had 10 children, the youngest being my father Jerry Albert Mashek (1913-1973). My dad married Mary Eleanor Morgan (The very first Miss West 1933) in 1937 & they had 5 children, the youngest being me. I am a retired teacher, married to Richard San Davis, a farmer & we have two grown sons. I am searching for the gravesite of Vaclav's brother. He is said to be buried in Trinity Lutheran Cemetery in Falls County, TX. My relatives from my mother's side (daughter of William Clarence Morgan & wife Julia Belle Chase) are mostly buried in Hillsboro's main cemetery near downtown on Highway 77.
