Bio

Atlanta, Georgia is home. I am an ex-naval officer and retired technology company executive. I caught the genealogy bug in retirement.

Principal objective is to thoroughly document my ancestors since their mid-to-late 1800's arrival from Europe to the Northeastern USA in the mid-to-late 19th Century.

My ancestry seems to be roughly 2/3 Irish and 1/3 German. Most settled in New York and New Jersey upon arrival. Key ancestral names are Wieber, Moran, Nolan, Gaynor, Glenfield, Lax, Bausch, Decker, Saunders, Kessler, Halblaub. Y-DNA seems to indicate ancient Southeastern European origins.

My wife (a DAR member) already had significant genealogy work done in her family. Accordingly, I have focused on expanding that effort only where necessary...especially her maternal Jackson / Gawthrop branch from Harrison, Lewis, Upshur and adjoining WV counties...especially Clarksburg, Weston, Buckhannon vicinities...also Morgan County, Ohio.
