Bio

My dear mother, Betsy Jordan Edgar, has been a Family History enthusiast all my life. She has written and published a book regarding one branch of our family tree "The McNeel Family Record" 1967, and she has created numerous notebooks and documents for all of our family trees. Her contributions to our family history have been numerous, and are greatly appreciated by myself and many individuals.
When I was a child my mother would take me along and we visited many cemeteries documenting our many ancestral final resting place, taking pictures and gathering information.
This is how I found Find a Grave . com. Recently my husband told me he would give me a thousand dollars to find his grandfathers grave stone, stating it would mean that much to him. There was no way I could travel to a far away state to search, but through Find a Grave I narrowed the search to one large cemetery, I called that cemetery office and discovered there were 3 individuals interned there with our surname, I then requested a photo through Find a Grave, and one kind volunteer posted the photo within two days. I couldn't believe the kindness of that person and still marvel that this could be accomplished within just a few days. I have never collected the thousand dollars, because it was payment enough to see my husbands delight at seeing a grave site of his dear departed Grandfather, and having the memories of being there as a child with his Mother and Grandmother. Well, needless to say, after that positive experience I was hooked on this web site which CAN be a positive way of helping others know about their ancestors.
I am just beginning now to explore what is already posted, and to add to the body of knowledge on this web site. Please excuse me for being a "little rough around the edges" in my approaches. I'll learn, I promise!
I hope to meet other decedents of our families, and to enjoy exploring this vast area of genealogy.
I wish to post accurate and correct information and welcome input. I look forward to hearing from you. If I post a grave that is your family member and you wish to manage that grave or if you wish to add information, then please just ask.
God Bless OUR Dear Departed, and God Bless the many Descendants they represent.
