I am the Great-Granddaughter of a Civil War Veteran, Patrick Alfred Callan, who served under Ulysses S. Grant during the Civil War, and the Great-Grandniece of an Indian Wars Veteran, Thomas Joseph Callan, who served under General George Armstrong Custer and was awarded the Congressional Medal of Honor for his actions after the Battle of Little Bighorn. They were two brave young brothers who emigrated from County Louth, Ireland and went on to do great things for our country.
