I am a direct descendant of the Lowe family that lived along the Horsepasture River in the Hogback area in what is now called the Toxaway Game Lands which abut the Gorges State Park. The family has maintained a cemetery near Standing Rock, which was located on family land, for over 150 years. The graves listed on the Find a Grave web site as being in the Jocassee Gorges Cemetery are more correctly located in the Lowe Cemetery, except for the grave of Abraham Low, whose grave is located in the Hamburg Baptist Church cemetery in Glenville, Jackson County.
