Bio

This is the second location for the cemetery,
originaly located at the end of Bowie St. between Oak St. and the fence. Moved to its present location the mid 1960's.

You can still probably see the old gravesites still today. During this process some of the old markers were missing and old records were not very good. This is why there are several unknown burials.

At the time of this report in 1996 the present location had:
663 Gravesites
10 Unknown
11 Reserved
At the time I complied this report there were:
76 cement headstones
100 granite headstones
5 metal markers

The Grounds Dept. was making the cement headstones till the budget was cut. The metal ones were supplied by the funeral homes.

There were burials from:
Austin State School
Austin State School Farm Colony
Confederate Home For Men
Cresthaven Nursing Home
Travis State School
Various Group Homes
