I have extensive Southern States lines that I have worked on for 40 plus years. My father's ancestors include Shanks & Williams who settled in Wilson Co.,TN before 1804. After completing an extensive community study for Wilson and surrounding counties I was able to trace them to Mecklenburg Co.,VA/Granville Co.,NC. If you have ancestors (especially) from middle TN (Wilson, DeKalb, Cannon,Smith,Sumner or Davidson) and would like me to check my database please email me.Here is a line from my mother's ancestry I am currently puzzling over and would be interested in talking to descendants or interested parties:There are two different Samuel Jacks (two distinct different signatures on petitions found in NC State Archives) living in east TN signing the same petitions asking the state of NC to help protect them from the Indians. One of these Samuel Jack's is living in the East TN counties of Greene & Jefferson in the late 1700s and died in 1803 in Jefferson co TN. He was in the saddlery trade and a Hugh Benjamin Barry was apprenticed to him. Samuel Jack's wife was Mary (Polly) Barry the sister to Hugh Barry (d1789 Greene co TN) Samuel Jack has a son Thomas who moved to Ray Co., MO.Also, there is a Capt James Jack who delivered the NC Mecklenburg Declaration by horseback to Thomas Jefferson in 1775. Supposedly he is the son of Patrick Jack (1700-80) of Charlotte, NC. These Jacks migrated from PA (near Chambersburg, Franklin co, PA in 1760 to Charlotte, Mecklenburg co NC. I have a record that says that Capt James Jacks only sons Robt & John remained in PA (1760) and married sisters who were daughters of of Robert Rush. Does anyone know more about the descendants of Patrick father of Capt. James Jack? I'll gladly transfer a memorial that is not related, as I would expect others to do.The following statement is my written permission that any photo I take per request of another party on FAG, or those I personally contributed (grave/photos) that I may have added of others or family members can be used without further permission from me, as long as it in an appropriate and decent content and for family and/or genealogy purposes.Cherie Gardner Rawlings
