I am the daughter of Mary Elizabeth Niten Southern and Roy Lee Southern. I found this site by looking for my grandmother's brother so that I could reconnect with his daughter. Yes, this is a bit confusing! Anyway, my Mama was the family genealogist. She had done a tremendous amount of research on both her family as well as my father's family. She was so excited about finding connections. I am so saddened that I did not share her enthusiasm at the time. Since her passing in 2010, I have started getting more interested in the family tree and how far the branches go and how far back the roots will lead me. I am not sure if this is helping me connect with Mama or simply be able to honor her memory by carrying on the research and documentation of the connections. I am actively trying to find members of the family that may have been somehow overlooked or may not have the correct information and getting things updated. By the way, this site helped me find my distant cousin, Lynn Eason to whom I will forever be grateful.
