Mark Miner is based in the Pittsburgh area and in 2000 founded Minerd.com, a website devoted to the genealogy of his early Pennsylvania German ancestry. The site twice has been named by Family Tree Magazine as a "Top 10 Family Web Site." He is a journalist by training and has four decades of public relations and marketing experience, with induction at the age of 43 into the "Renaissance Hall of Fame" of the Public Relations Society of America. In 2023, a local museum exhibit and video documentary he executive-produced, about controversial U.S. Senator Matthew Stanley Quay, won national and statewide awards. He also has been a judge of student essays on National History Day at Pittsburgh's Heinz History Center, in affiliation with the Smithsonian. He is the publisher of 2 works of non-fiction. One title is "Well At This Time: The civil War Diaries of Ephraim Miner." The other is "Forged in Steel: the Seven Time-Tested Leadership Principles Practiced By the Pittsburgh Steelers," co-authored by a Steelers hall of honor recipient, is the first to analyze leadership through the prism of a National Football League franchise and Judeo-Christian values.
