Born in Hancock, MI; attended grade schools in Michigan and graduated from high school in Santa Maria, CA in 1963. Attended junior college in California and graduated with a BS in Forest Management from Michigan Technological University in 1969. Enlisted in the US Army, went through Basic and AIT at Ft Leonard Wood, MO and attended OCS at Ft. Belvoir, VA; commissioned a 2nd LT; duty assignments included Ft. Lewis, WA, and Danang, RVN as a 1st LT; discharged in 1972. Employed by the Michigan Department of Natural Resources, Forest Management Division as a resource protection manager until retirement in 1997. Was a real estate broker for eleven years; started and managed a small company, listed and sold real estate in four-county area in the upper peninsula of Michigan. Worked as a natural gas pipeline inspector for three years in several states, finally retiring in 2012. Enjoy outdoor activities, brook trout fishing, and deer hunting especially. The best time of the year is at deer camp in the fall with family and friends.
