I live on the NW Oregon coast near the mouth of the Columbia River that empties into the Pacific Ocean, where Lewis and Clark settled for a few months in 1805/1806. Lots of history here. My Finnish immigrant grandfather established Astoria Granite Works, a monument business, in 1917. My father and uncle took it over in the 40's until they retired in the 90's. It is still a big business in Astoria and surrounding areas, including Washington State.
