I am a graduate of Bay Springs High School in Mississippi. In 1967, I graduated from the United States Naval Academy. I served as a Naval Aviator during the Viet Nam war. In 1973, I was hired by Eastern Airlines as a commercial airline pilot. That same year, I started law school and eventually became an attorney in Georgia in 1977.

I have written eight books. The first was Joe's McFarland about McFarland History: http:/ /mcfarlandmcfarland.com. It lists and details an extensive history of the McFarland Clan from 840 to 1970. It includes my direct lineage back to 1709 in Scotland. The 2nd book is Jesus' Trials. It outlines the six trials of Jesus from a Christian Lawyer's perspective. The 3rd book, Doris' Parkers, provides historical information on my mother's side of the family. The 4th is History of Jasper County [Mississippi]. 5th - 7th is about my school, Bay Springs High School. The last is a numerical listing of Family Stories that I have told over the years.
I have four grown children and seven grandchildren. My wife, Becky, and I have lived in Cumming, Georgia since 1980.
