Bio

I am an "intermediate" level genealogist and "amateur" history buff in all things related to my family and their participation in the growth and development of the United States of America, with emphasis on the State of California and San Luis Obispo County.

My ancestry includes the family names of Brumley, Doolittle, Durnell, Halliday, Loomis, Loud, McAnallen, Ortega, Parsons, Sanchez, Van Fossen, Warren, Willson and Womer (just to name a few) along with hundreds of other names - many going back to the original New England settlers.

I can claim an ancestor on the Mayflower (William Brewster) and native California heritage (baptismal name Margarita Maria Dominguez). My 8th great-grandfather was Jose Francisco Ortega who was the scout or "pathfinder" for the Portola expedition to California in 1769 as well as Manuel Buitron a soldier in the same expedition who married Maria Dominguez. I could go on and on but would probably bore you to tears . . . . As the rest of my family says - they are just dead relatives! But their life and the history in which they participated fascinate me.

The information on memorials that I have created in Find a Grave is as accurate as the sources I have found. But as we all know sources themselves are often inaccurate. And being human I can also make mistakes in transcription. PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE send me a nice email or message letting me know if you spot errors or have corrections, additional or better information on any of the memorials that I have created or am maintaining. I work on genealogy in my spare time so please also be patient.

Photos: There is no need to ask permission to use photos that I have posted (unless you are using them for commercial purposes in which case please contact me for written permission). All I ask is that you source and credit photos properly using my name as the photo originator and the Find A Grave memorial number and URL from which the photo was associated. If I have used a photo that has been given to me by another family member, I will indicate that that photo came from the "XYZ family" (but will not mention specific names of living people for privacy reasons). Proper source documentation is the bane of all genealogists - including myself - so always document a source. And you should always give credit to the person who was willing to share the photos and other information with you.

I am so thankful for the internet and sites such as Find A Grave that have been tremendously helpful in reaching out to people like me who don't have the opportunity to travel to cemeteries all over the world. I sincerely hope that any information I have been able to add to Find A Grave will help you in your genealogical and family pursuits.

Enjoy!
