I'm a Kentuckian, born and raised, but I've lived in Chicago, Columbus, OH, and a short time in northeast England. I've been doing genealogy research as an amateur, on my own and on a few others' families, on a regular, daily basis since about 2005, but really started around 1994. My great grandmother was my paternal grandmother's family historian, and her extensive work is what got me started on my path. My great aunt was a local historian and genealogist in Columbia, KY. She began passing along her knowledge to me as a small child, sharing family photos and stories, and visiting the family cemetery plots with me, and it sparked an enduring passion for learning and sharing family history.
