I started with Ancestry.com trying to find a link for my children with their Native American heritage. I then found this site and believe it has so much valuable information for all of us to share. I was able to find my great-great Grandfather's grave in Portland Oregon and Great-great Grandmother in Oakland California,(both died in 1880) 2500 miles from where my family settled and lives.
My interests are in researching the descendants of

(1) Hendry Knight and Mary (McIntyre) Knight who immigrated from Lochwinnoch, Scotland to Ontario Canada in the 1870's;

(2) Henry Maitland and Helen (Ellen) Boyle-Maitland[Parents: William Boyle & Janet Smith], also immigrated from Grenock, Scotland to Ontario in the 1870's;

(3) Susan Corsaut Hunt, born in London Township, Ontario

(4) William Arthur Hunt born in Ireland and lived in London Township, Ontario;

(5)Thomas McElroy who was born in Ireland and immigrated to Canada (where he married)then to Brockway Township, St. Clair County, Michigan in the 1870's

(6) Eleanor Evans-McElroy, born in Warwick Canada, her father, Richard Evans, born in Wales; Eleanor's mother Sarah Williams was born in England

(7)John Wilson, born in Ireland and died in battle in the Civil War,

(8) his wife Elizabeth Thompson - Wilson, born in England and died prior to 1861,

(9) their son, William Wilson, born in Ontario, who sailed the Great Lakes during the season and farmed in Fremont Township with his family.

(10) Harriet Marden-Wilson both born in Ontario and immigrated to Fremont Township near Roseburg in the 1870's.

(11) Paul Van Brande, (Van de Brande, Vanden Brande) Born in Belgium around 1878 and immigrated to America in the early 1900's, marrying Alida Turf, living in Detroit and Deerfield, Michigan. Paul died in 1927 in Ann Arbor Michigan, leaving a wife and 5 children.

(12) Alida Turf (later Van Brande - Laridon), born in Aarsele, Belgium to Franciscus Turf and Stefania Ranson (Vertriest - Turf). Alida's brothers and sisters were: Matilda Vertriest (Van Rentergham), Elodie Vertriest (Ver Straete), Henry Turf, Cyril Turf, Louis Turf, Flavie Turf (DeSmet) and Leontina Turf (Van Stekelman).
