Find a Grave ID

Bio

My grandmother, Tennie Selby Burk, was the Staff Genealogist at the S.A.R. in Washington, D.C. for a number of years. When I was young she made sure I was a member of a few genealogical societies but I was too busy raising my four children and helping my husband build a business in the newspaper industry to pay much attention to genealogy or my historical lines.

Now that I am retired and concerned that my children and grandchildren have a clear idea of their "roots," I have picked up her gauntlet and begun digging through her papers and books that hadn't already been donated to libraries, historical societies, and such around several states.

This does not in any way make me an "expert" but I am interested in my genealogical lines (and those belonging to others) being preserved accurately.

This is why I have added to and corrected information on "Find A Grave" whenever I can. I will be happy to answer questions or help with some research when I can. I am, of course, open to correction myself in the interest of historical accuracy.

I was born in Washington D.C. but raised my family in Northeast Missouri. I now live in Arizona.
