I got my Ancestory.com DNA results this week. I am "95% British Isles and 5% undetermined."
We knew that all of the McTighe's and Nuzum's came from Ireland, and my Mother has always said her mother Julia Swafford McTighe came from England.
I hope to find out more about the "5% undetermined." I found a birth certificate for Grandmother Minnie "Doll" Brown Nuzum's brother saying he was born on a reservation in South Dakota so maybe we have a drop of Native American in us...I would love that!
On the Nuzum side of my family I have documented our 1st ancestor to come to the US to be Thomas Nuzum. He was born 29 September, 1706, in county Wexford Ireland. He died 28 July, 1791, in Delaware Co Pennsylvania. He was a patriot of the American Revolution, too old to fight, he was the "overseer of the poor". In 1989 my brother Charles took me to the courthouse in Pennsylvania to see the documents for Thomas Nuzum. There are pictures of the documents if anyone wants to see them.
