Never did I imagine that what began as a simple grade school project for one of my children back in 2006 would morph into such full-on genealogical research into our family's ancestors. I live with my family in Calgary, Alberta, Canada and work full time as an Engineer and Project Manager in the Oil & Gas industry. None of my projects though, prove to be as challenging and rewarding as the endless research project on my family's ancestry! A 3rd generation descendant of German-Russian and English roots, I am finding the real challenge is to fill in the Human stories between the dates on the headstone markers. My research has given me an appreciation for the hardships my ancestors endured both on a geo-political level as well as on a daily life & survival level. Working with so many birth and death dates has reminded me we are only here for a short time. So what are we to do with our precious time allotted? What story will we write in our time? What heritage will I pass on to my Children and future generations? My spiritual heritage (we are all children of a loving and just God) - I take my guidance from 1 John 3:1 "See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are! The reason the world does not know us is that it did not know him. Dear friends, now we are children of God, and what we will be has not yet been made known. But we know that when Christ appears, we shall be like him, for we shall see him as he is." - to pass on what is of eternal importance. Secondarily, I hope will be the story of my descendants, of their reliance on faith and family.

To fellow "Find-A-Gravers" I would be happy to undertake any photo requests in the Calgary area. Just send me a message on this site.
