I finally began work on pursuing my dream of knowing my family genealogy. Many of you have done some wonderful work in your contributions. Most of the cemeteries I visit, you all have already done the footwork. Through the help of people here and by the grace of God I was able to find a cemetery dear to my heart. The Graves family cemetery near Iatan Missouri is on private land and it had been abandoned.The cemetery was rough and needed clearing and work. I wish we had the money to do more but we're doing what we can to restore this family treasure. My second and third great grandfather's, plus many of their family members are buried here. I have been told by the Historical Society in Platte County there are as many as 100 cemeteries on private land Many have been forgotten.I am hoping to find more but right now we are quite busy doing what we can for this particular cemetery. Find A Grave is a great tool and so is Ancestry. I do occasionally become discouraged by those who copy information or change it without doing thorough research. This problem makes some searches confusing to say the least. I look information over several times. I believe if I don't have accuracy I have defeated the purpose of my historical destination.
