Todd Andrew Dorsett was born at Waynesboro, Pennsylvania, and has studied the history and genealogy of the Antietam region for more than forty years. He holds degrees from both Mount Saint Mary's and Wake Forest universities. He has served on the boards of various historical organizations and has written and edited numerous regional publications. He founded the genealogical quarterly "Antietam Ancestors" and now serves as genealogist and editor of Antietam Historical Association, which interprets the history of the Antietam country of Maryland and Pennsylvania.
He has also done considerable work on the genealogy of southwestern Kentucky, Piedmont North Carolina, and West Yorkshire, England.
Genealogy is top priority. On the side he has practised law, served an apprenticeship at hotel-keeping, and coordinated special events. Nowadays he engages in management consulting.
