Five years ago, we bought an old abandoned house in Mathias, WV. The home began as a two story log house and then an addition was added around 1900. We found a receipt in the wall for the purchase of the windows, doors, sidelights, and transom dated 1900, from a business in Broadway, Va and sold to ELI HALTERMAN (son of Henry and Catherine Moyer Halterman). We have completely restored the home and have now begun to explore the surrounding area. I have worked diligently on the geneology of the Eli Halterman (wife Diana) family. The home was passed to Eli's son Reuben Halterman (wife Hannah), then to their son Frank Halterman (wife Iola), then to their son Floyd Halterman (wife Marie). We have found two old completely overgrown cemeteries in the woods behind us so we will be cleaning those up and attempting to discover and document the residents. It appears we have found the Harless cemetery (and we live beside Harless Run) so that makes sense to me. There are only two names listed on findagrave but there are several more names that we have identified from the stones. I will be adding info to that cemetery as I gain more information. I am willing to take pics in my general area although I might not make the 14 day deadline. My own family line is the Evan Hiett's of Hampshire County at Forks of Capon WV.
