Bio

Trustee of the Carpenter Burial Ground, North Attleboro. Cemetery ID 2269218. This private, historical burial ground was established in 1816 for direct descendants of John Carpenter (1774-1851). The first grave in the cemetery was Asa Follette Carpenter who was John's 4-1/2 year old son in 1816.

I maintain cemetery records including the original cemetery agreements and land deeds. The land was part of the Carpenter Land Grant 1646. I traced the land deeds and transfers at the Taunton Registry of Deeds back to 1768. I acquired details of the burial records from my grandmother Ida Mae (Foster) Carpenter. She was married to my grandfather Jesse Lees Carpenter. I have extended the details and updated them for accuracy based on information I have found on Find-A-Grave and several other sources.

My Carpenter lineage (the Rehoboth Carpenters) in the United States:

Generation 1: William Carpenter Sr. 1576-1638,
made voyage to US in 1638 might have perished on the voyage or soon thereafter
Generation 2: William Carpenter 1605–1658
his son also on the ship Bevis 1638
Generation 3: William Carpenter 1631–1703
Generation 4: Noah Carpenter 1672–1753
