Bio

I enjoy history (college minor) and genealogy. I have been tracing all of my ancestors and all of their descendants - basically anyone with whom I share DNA - since 1985. I currently have about 85,000 people in my tree.

The information here on Find A Grave can be the best available - or it can be poor and even incorrect. It is only as good as those who manage the memorials make it. It is my hope to help improve the accuracy of this information. I try very hard to only record documented information. If credible, I may include some heresay information in remarks for clarification.

I only manage memorials for my relatives and some that have been 'orphaned' (like soldiers since I'm retired Army myself.) However I have and continue to submit updates and corrections to many, many memorials as I research my family tree.

I try to be sure there are sources and documentation to back up information I post and edits that I suggest, but I do make mistakes and welcome any comments or corrections. My goal is truth and accuracy!

If I submit an edit for your approval, please do not hesitate to ask for supporting evidence. I sometimes submit extracted records to support edits I suggest. It is entirely up to you whether or not to include them in the memorial. Personally, I think it sometimes helps to include some of this evidence - especially when there is potential to confuse one person with another.

However, I do not think Find A Grave should become a substitute for genealogical web sites. Far too many people are attempting to do that now and have degraded the credibility of Find A Grave to the point that it is no longer accepted as a credible source by serious genealogists.

Have a Blessed Day!

P.S.

1. If you are new to Find A Grave, you might want to review the Community rules at: https://www.findagrave.com/community-rules

2. I am seeing more and more memorials that do not meet Find A Grave policies such as:

- "I have a presumed burial location, should I add the memorial? No, burial locations or dispositions should be verified information."

- "Burial Details Unknown: Find a Grave's purpose is to catalog and make available final disposition information. If burial information is unknown for an individual, Find a Grave is probably not the right place for their information. "

- "We suggest members work together if there is differing information in historical records. Keep in mind the Genealogical Proof Standard when updating and adding to memorial pages."
They are:
1. Reasonably exhaustive research.
2. Complete and accurate source citations.
3. Thorough analysis and correlation.
4. Resolution of conflicting evidence.
5. Soundly written conclusion based on the strongest evidence.
