Bio

Newtt is a wonderful husband, step-father, step-grandfather, and friend who had a life-long passion of serving others. He was born on January 8th, 1946, in Linton, Greene County, Indiana and spent his childhood growing up north of Sandborn and Newberry. Before he graduated high school, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps, then in 1968 he joined the United States Air Force. He spent a total of 26 years stationed around the world to include Vietnam, Thailand, Germany, Spain, & Italy. He was awarded the Air Medal for this participation in the invasion of Grenada. He was also awarded the Meritorious Service Medal, along with multiple other service awards. After retiring from the military as a Master Sergeant in 1990, he continued serving his nation with United States Air Force Auxiliary, Civil Air Patrol, for 26 years. Newtt was also a member of the Indiana Guard Reserve and retired as a Major after 18 years of service. He also spent a number of years serving in Medical Command of the Veteran Reserve Corps as their Personnel Officer. He was a 50-plus year member of both, the Masonic Lodge and Eastern Star.

Newtt is married to Kay; he has a stepson, Greg Hergert (Barb); a daughter, Julianna; a brother, Gayle (Linda); along with sisters, Joyce Koranda (Gary) of Swisher IA, and Nancey Wiggington (Elmer) of Higbee MO. There are also numerous nieces and nephews, and step grandchildren.
