Bio

I am from the Haplogroup I2a1b1 line of Combs, first in the colonies was Archdale Combs christened 16 Nov 1641 Soulbury, Buckinghamshire, England-d ~1684 Richmond Co, VA. Arrived probably in and around Fredericksburg, VA circa 1664. I have been a proven descendant via YDNA testing, perfect match on all 46 markers on Ancestry. I do have 111 markers tested and the Big Y-700. I myself was born in Louisville, KY in 1971. I now reside in Aurora, CO. My father was born in Hazard, KY my mother in Louisville, KY as well. I have extensive knowledge on this line of Combs's and would be willing to help anyone that is stuck but has already put in legwork of their own. My tree has been switched from public back to private for the time being. I can't guarantee 100% accuracy on everything so copy at your own risk. Good luck to all out there with their research. Please contact me direct at [email protected], I have had this email for 20 years or so and I will never change it.
P.S. For those of you who aren't familiar with male line Y-DNA testing, not the everyday AtDNA testing that all the companies offer but the one that specifically test the male Y chromosome which proves you to your biological surname. There are about a dozen separate distinct lines of Combs that do not share a common male ancestor. There are another couple dozen who have tested that claim the Combs surname that don't match to those other dozen who have a recorded history that was part of the international Combs DNA study found on http://www.combs-families.org/. What this means? It means just because your surname is Combs it doesn't mean you are related to another Combs. Archdale Combs, the patriarch of my line in this country belongs to the Haplogroup I2a1b1 a.k.a I-M223. Those who can trace to this line will trace their roots to southeastern Kentucky, northeastern Tennessee and southwestern Virginia. The majority of all the other Combs lines both verified and unverified belong to Haplogroup R1b. These lines have began to separate because of Y-DNA testing. There are about 3-4 Combs lines that existed in the same area of Virginia early on in the 1700's. Joseph Combs of Stafford County, VA and his descendants are not related to the Archdale line, William Combs husband of Sarah Ann Million and there descendants are not related to the Archdale line. The majority of the Combs that can be traced to Clark County, KY are likely from Joseph and the Combs of Russell County, VA are likely from William. If you really would like to know what line you are from, if you are a male Combs, get your Y-DNA tested, if you are a female, find a male Combs relative and get them to Y-DNA test. Family Tree DNA is the only company that I am aware of that performs Y-DNA testing and matches those testers to other males who have tested, the other companies don't. I hope this information helps clarify how YDNA works and how ancestry works. P.S. If you happen to see any of the memorials that I have created that have an error, or if you know the actual burial locations, please let me know. I spend a lot of time on here linking families together, requesting birth/death location corrections and requesting merges if necessary. There are some managers on here that will blindly reject correction requests even if you can prove it, I try not to be one of those. Before I request a correction or create and unknown burial memorial, I usually have all my ducks in a row. Thanks everyone for viewing my profile, happy hunting.
