Bio

I grew up in Carterville, Illinois surrounded by many family members. Every Memorial Day we took great care to place flowers on my relatives graves. When I was old enough to notice that my grandmother's siblings and parents, and great aunts & uncles were all in that same little area of the cemetery, I was hooked. I started doing genealogy back in the 70's focusing on my maternal roots.... the Johnsons, Carneys and Sheppards. Forty years later my maternal line on Ancestry.com has over 6,000 entries, and my paternal line has close to 3,000 (Collins, Hiller, Battson, Treat, Bayless, Deming).

Find A Grave is the next step. As I go "cemetery stomping" I'm recording graves & taking photos. This spring I will answer the call to photograph as many stones as I can locate here in New England, where I now reside.

Let me know if I can help you!
