I began photographing tombstones, researching cemeteries, and learning how our local history inter-relates in 2010.

Our family research project includes a brother & sister-in-law who have done fairly extensive work on our family "lines" which are: MITCHELL, POWELL, WORKMAN, PRUITT, CHAPMAN, HOYLE, REINHARDT, RITCHIE, WALKER and others (plus spelling variations of all of these).

My ancestors were located mostly in VALE-HENRY-CASAR-MORGANTON areas. The following North Carolina cemeteries are among my 'Favorites': PISGAH BAPTIST, TRINITY LUTHERAN, PLATEAU METHODIST, SARDIS LUTHERAN, PREWIT FAMILY CEMETARY, ARNEY-near Penelope Church, MOUNT HOME BAPTIST, Morganton; BETHEL METHODIST, Morganton, MT GILEAD BAPTIST-Burke County and the OLD CHAPMAN Cemetery, near South Mountains-Burke County. (PS: NEWBERRY PREWIT was my GGGF and is buried at PISGAH BAPTIST Church-Casar. He donated land to help this church become established and was a frequent Pastor there also).

Our goal is to assemble "booklets" for each family line & include stories, interesting/important info, military info, photographs of people/groups/houses/etc. relating to these families to "bring them to life".

I'm interested in 'connecting' with unknown relatives too!
