I have recently moved to Huntsville, Texas. There are a lot of cemeteries to explore here. Several with historical markers. I have access to the Walker County Inmate Cemetery called Captain Joe Byrd Cemetery. Interestingly, I have learned that originally TDCJ only placed the inmates num ber on the stones then in later years their names were added to the stones. I have discovered a couple of these graves were also military servicemen from WWII.
