I presently live in Newkirk, Ok after spending 80 years of my life in the Pine Bluff,Ark. area. I was born in southern Jefferson County, Arkansas near Tarry. where i grew up. I attended the Star City school and graduated in 1943. Shortly after that iI entered the army and served for 2 years, 1 1/2 years in France, Germany and England. I was wounded with schrapnel from a mine on March 19 1945. I was discharged in May 1946. I gained employment with Arkansas Power & light Company and worked there for 40 years. My parents were W A & Roberta Bertrand Rodgers. I married Mildred Woodfield on Feb 11, 1950 and we have celebrated our 60th wedding anniversary. Mildred died at home in Newkirk Ok May 26th 2010 and is burird eh Shell Chapel Cemetery, Jefferson County, ARkansas Her family is buried in the shady Grove Cemetery, Grant County, Arkansas The Derrissaeux Cemetery Workday was in May of ecah year. Many people came and we had lunch on the gfround.
