Although I live in Southern Illinois southern blood runs through these veins. I am proud to say that over 15 ancestors i have found so far fought for the south in the war of northern aggression and only one, James Monroe Patterson, fought for the Yanks. Interesting note James enlisted to fight for the north even though he had two brothers fighting for the south. I hate predjudice not just against races but preconcieved notions for instance just cause i fly this flag i am not an ignorant racist. I really am glad I found this sight and look forward to the doors it may open. I am striving to acquire photos of every known confederate buried in Illinois.
