In 1997 learned my father's birth name originated in Poland. Knew his parents names, so started searching with them. Startled to learn Grand dad had 15 siblings all who lived within a 2 mile radius of where I grew up. His mother's history was also in the same locations. Sadly my father was not one to associate with but 2 or 3 relatives.
After marrying in 1965, I also eventually learned that my new husband was related to my mother's side of our now extensive family (over 9000). It has generated more relatives than I can keep track of. Luckily a few are still living with bright memories well into their 90's & 100's. Where there is a lack of history is with photographs, dad destroyed them when my parents divorced. But blessed are the few survivors who have contributed what little there is.
