I have been researching before home computers, so I been at this for a long time. I was born in Goose Creek, Harris Co. Tx. There were 3 small towns: Baytown, Goose Creek, & Pelly. The towns merged & now are all Baytown. Exxon located in old Baytown was once the largest refinery in the world. I lived there until 1999, because my TX. University "kids" moved to Austin. I now live near by in Georgetown. Our family moved abt. 7 miles from Goose Creek to a small settlement of Wooster. John Q. Wooster wrote a letter to the Brown fam. in Iowa, glorifying the beauty of TX.!! The Brown fam. came to TX. in 1895. They became rice farmers & ranchers. My husband of 50 years had alzheimer's, so my research was curtailed for 8 years. Now, I have Ancestry, Find A Grave, & all the wonderful sites.
When I was young, I belonged to the Baytown Genealogic Society and we would go to the cemeteries & record the stones. Now, I am nearly ninety & I do not record grave stones now. Going to cemeteries alone is not a good idea for age.
