My brother Alan Gudknecht and I have been researching the Philadelphia Gudknecht family for many years. We are descendants of Christian Gutknecht/Gudknecht I who arrived in Philadelphia in 1749. His son, Christian Gutknecht II, served in the militia in Germantown during the Revolutionary War. We are also researching the names Bowman/Baumann, King/Keen, Leamy, Calhoun/Colguhoun, and Barr.
