I have only recently begun to use Find A Grave as a tool to share the 30 years plus of research and treasure trove of pictures of the families of GEORGE ZICK/BARBARA SCHMIDT; STEPHEN RIES/CATHARINA STAHLMANN; PAUL LISCOM/ELIZABETH DEMAREE; JOSEPH McEVOY/MARY UPTON; and JOHN HARRISON RUSSELL/MARY WHITE ALBERTSON and their descendants. Some of these have been posted on Find A Grave by other researchers from compilations of my research. Thank you to all of those who have made Find A Grave such a wonderful tool for genealogy through dedication and hard work.
I began my research after the death of my father in 1979, when I discovered I could not identify with certainty any pictures of my grandfather, SAMUEL T. ZICK (1887-1918) or any of his family. By the time I accomplished this, I had developed a real interest in learning more about all the grandparents that I had never known as well as their families. I had also met a number of other ZICK family researchers with an interest in learning our mutual ancestry. With easy access to Flint Public Library in Flint, Mchigan, and Genesee County Michigan records, I also began workin g on the genealogy of my grandmother, GERTRUDE LISCOM RUSSELL (1889-1940) and have met a number of LISCOM cousins that have become friends to this day. My work in the court system and raising two daughters sometimes placed my research on the back burner; retirement in 2005 has allowed me to work on sharing some of my findings.
