About Pilgrim Rest Cemetery at Lombardy, in Sunflower County: This cemetery has long been abandoned and is known only to family members mainly local people who have relatives buried there many years ago. It is located on private land, is accessible only by foot and is at least 1/2 mile from the nearest road. It is in a densely wooded area and was totally inaccessible to burials by 1980. There have been no burials in this cemetery since about 1963 which is the latest tombstone that is available. This cemetery is located in rural northwestern Sunflower County and is about 40 miles north of Indianola, MS. There are currently some "new" burials in this cemetery listed on Find A Grave but they were not buried in this cemetery. Please note that there are several Pilgrim Rest Cemeteries located throughout Sunflower County, but this one does not have new burials.
