Bio

When Findagrave.com first came online, most of us contributed memorials so others who didn't live in our community could use the memorial in their genealogical research and such. Over the years I have met some VERY NICE and APPRECIATIVE people. And most still are!!

In recent years, some people, NOT ALL, have become OBSESSED with the collection of memorials, being the first to create a memorial as soon as an obituary was published, or when they learn of the death of someone. These OBSESSED people (usually not related to the loved one at all) don't give the family time to create a memorial as the family member's attention is with the loss of their loved one. Also, some, NOT ALL, refuse to make corrections to a loved one's memorial or transfer it to the loved one's family. Several people have had confrontations over these actions. I refuse to have these confrontations; it simply isn't worth it. Findagrave has made changes to memorial posting guidelines which helps, BUT conflicts still happen. There are still conflicts when a family member claims their loved one's memorial from a stranger.

For this and other reasons, I rarely contribute anything to this site anymore. I make corrections as asked, transfer non-immediate family memorials to those who request them, and maintain what I've contributed. This site and its memorials AREN'T worth getting upset and having confrontations over. What started out as a wonderful thing has lost its meaning for me, all because of actions of a few people.
