Many fought in the French and Indian and Revolutionary wars - one died at the Battle of Bunker Hill. Most of them live in western New York state now. My mother's family were Germans from Russia who homesteaded in the Dakota Territory in the 1880s. My mother grew up in Minneapolis. I grew up in suburban Philadelphia and live there again now.
