Bio

Began serious genealogical and historical research in 1980. In 1986 elected first president of Catawba County [NC] Genealogical Society, served 4 years. On book committee of The Heritage of Catawba County North Carolina in 1986. Wrote many articles for The Heritage of Catawba County and The Heritage of Alexander County, North Carolina, pertaining to the Bentley and Miller families. Served as editor of CCGS's quarterly journal, Catawba Cousins, from 1986 to 1996. Served on the Board of Directors for the North Carolina Society of Historians for 4 years. In September 1990 notified by the Board for Certification of Genealogists of my certification as a Certified Genealogical Record Specialist (CGRS). In June, 1991, my article, Catawba: The Making of a North Carolina County, was accepted for publication in Heritage Quest magazine and the North Carolina Genealogical Society Journal.

In 1990 received an Award of Special Merit from the North Carolina Society of Historians for my book, Excerpts from the Hickory Mercury, 1891-1897: A Hickory, North Carolina, Newspaper.
In 1991 co-authored with Jo White Linn, CG, CGL, "Huber Family Record" in Heritage Quest.
