Bio

I am a retired Fisheries Research Biologist after earning BS and MS degrees in Fisheries Science from Humboldt State University, Arcata, CA. My mother, Lettie Hannah (Rushton) McGie, and her sister, Veda, earlier researched our family and prepared binders to present to family members. They worked without the benefit of all the wonderful resources available on the internet. I have taken up where they left off and have been researching the names McGie, Rushton, Baker, Schmidt, Ward, Chase, Powell, and Johnson. My father was adopted by the McGie family. His mother was Mamie Johnson who named him Roscoe Gilbert Johnson before he was renamed Joseph Franklin McGie by his adopted parents. On my wife's side of her family, I have been researching Byram, Biggs, Wolber, Goolsby, Embry, and Ball.

All this work has led to many enlightening insights about where we came from and the many travails our ancestors faced in their lives. It is a humbling, but exhilarating, experience!
