I have been researching my family for years. My grandmother, Ella Josephine Nephew Hartzell lived next door to us at Cadet, Washington Co., Mo. She didn't have electricity or a car. So we would walk and visit all her relatives, which I was bored at the time, and now wish I could remember half of what went on. Since she had no electricity, we would sit by kerosene lamp and her wood stove or outside in her screened in porch and she would tell me all sorts of stories. I have always been interested in genealogy since a young girl and 40 years later still crazy about it. My family settled mostly in Washington Co., Mo. area, lots of Frenchmen there.
