Bio

I grew up in Combine, Kaufman County, Texas when the roads weren't officially named. They were simple dirt roads and you told your parents where you were going and took off walking.

It was a time when everyone was kinfolk, or nearly kin. If they weren't your direct kin, they were kinfolk's cousins.

Most of the early graves in the Pleasant Grove Cemetery can be connected in some manner. Connecting my family in this cemetery has become my latest passion. Many family members are also buried in the Lee Cemetery or the newer Roselawn Cemetery in Seagoville.

Family names are Davis, Patterson, Lanier, Sevier, Hanes, Hawthorne/Hawthorn, and Birchfield/Burchfield just to name a very few.

I have found the journey into genealogy is most interesting and not for the weak of heart or those that lack determination. But a break in the journey is much needed at times. Just as our ancestors would travel to new places, settle, then uproot and move again. So must those in the journey of genealogy.

God Bless and Keep those strong that attempt to find our links back to Adam and Eve.

Please feel free to use any photo that I have submitted to Find A Grave.
