I have been the family historian for several years. It is a task cast upon me when I began to wonder about the "missing" and the missing years of my family. I have come to discover that Black people are in many ways like a fish out of water. We are that strange people that live in an oral subculture in a literate dominant culture. Thos who write history often have the last word. Thus most of my family record is lost to time and might never be rediscovered. It is my hope to fill the gap between the written and oral tradition.
