Bellew, Edward Donald b. October 28, 1882 d. February 1, 1961 World War I Victoria Cross War Medal Recipient. Served as a Captain, 7th Battalion, British Columbia Regiment, Canadian Expeditionary Force. He was awarded his medal for service at Belgium on April 24, 1915 at the battle of St. Julien near Ypres, where chemical gas warfare was used for the first time in combat. Born John Angus Cameron in Ontario, Canada, he was a pioneer prospector noted for his participation in the Cariboo Gold Rush.
