Delcev, Georgi Nikolov 'Goce' b. February 4, 1872 d. May 4, 1903 Macedonian Revolutionary. He was born in Kukush (now Kiklis), a town in what is now northern Greece that was then part of the Ottoman Empire. Delcev was educated at the Salonika Military Academy, but expelled a month before graduation because of his political activities. He became a teacher and studied revolutionaries including Washington, Garibaldi and Mazzini, and socialist philosophers including Marx and Engels, becoming dedicated to the cause of independence from the Ottomans. Gligorov, Kiro b. May 3, 1917 d. January 1, 2012 Macedonian Statesman. He was the first democratically elected President of the Republic of Macedonia, serving from 1991 to 1999. Born in present-day Serbia, Gligorov graduated from the Belgrade School of Law. He served in a number of government cabinet posts in the former Yugoslavian Republic, including Finance Secretary. Tomasavic, Katarina b. 1453 d. 1474 Princess of Bosnia. Daughter of King Stijepan Tomas of Bosnia and his wife Katarina Vukcic-Kosaca. After her father was killed she was taken captive by the Ottomans. On the way to Istanbul, Turkey, she died in Skopje (Uskub), where she was buried. Being of royal blood she was accorded a turbe for her last resting place. It was known as Kral Kz'y Turbe (King's Daughter's Turbe).
