Diem, Ngo Dinh b. 1901 d. November 2, 1963 South Vietnam President. Served as President of the Republic of South Vietnam from Oct 1956 until Nov 1963. He was overthrown by a coup. After the generals had promised Diem that he would be allowed to leave the country they changed their mind and killed him. Nhu, Ngo Dinh b. October 7, 1910 d. November 2, 1963 South Vietnam Political figure. Younger brother of South Vietnamese President Ngo Dinh Diem, he was the head of his brother's regime of secret political movements, the Can Lao.
