Manrique, César b. April 24, 1919 d. September 25, 1992 Noted Painter and Architect. As a surrealistic and later abstract painter, he worked in Madrid and New York. In 1968 he finaly returned to his homeland, the island of Lanzarote, were he created some legendary attractions such as the Mirador de Rio, Cueva de los verdes, Los jameos del agua, the monument of fertility and his own impressive house in Tahiche, which is now the residence of the Fundación César Manrique.
