Amaya, Carmen b. November 2, 1913 d. November 19, 1963 Acclaimed Flamenco Dancer and Singer. She debuted in 1919, at the age of 6, at the Restaurante de las Siete Puertas and the next year she triumphed in Paris. In 1941, she appeared in New York at the Carnegie Hall, obtaining a big success, even President Roosevelt invited her to the White House. She also appeared in a few films such as "La Hija de Juan Simón" (1935), "María de la O" (1939), "See my Lawyer" (1945) and "Los Tarantos" (1963), her last film. Cossío, Pancho b. October 20, 1894 d. January 16, 1970 Artist. He was born Francisco Gutiérrez Cossío in Santiago de Baños, Cuba. Soon, his family moved to Spain. He studied with Ceclio Pla and was friend of Francisco Bores. His first exhibition was in 1919. In 1923, he moved to Paris, where knew the painters Picasso, Ismael de la Serna, Hernando Viñes, Togores and María Blanchard.
