de Porres, Saint Martin b. December 9, 1579 d. November 3, 1639 Saint. Son of a Spanish nobleman and a Black woman. When he was young his mother sent to work as a helper to a surgeon where he learned to care for the sick. He later entered the convent as a lay brother in the infirmary. St.Martin looked after the ill and did any humble task assigned. Effected many cures and also ran a hospital for cats and dogs. Lived a life of simplicity and devotion to all creatures. Fleming, Eric b. July 4, 1925 d. September 28, 1966 American motion picture and television actor of the 1940s, 50s, and 60s. In 1959 Eric Fleming was cast as trail boss 'Gil Favor' on "Rawhide," one of the most popular TV Western series of the era. Fleming left Rawhide in 1966 to seek out film work. August 23, 2008 Social Reformer, she was the founder and editor of the Peruvian weekly newsmagazine “Caretas.” Born in Lima, Peru, her father was the British poet, Percy Gibson. She married an Argentine diplomat, Manlio Zileri, and their son, Enrique Zileri, went on to become an editor on “Caretas” as well, although she divorced Zileri a few years later.
